ScaleIT – Scaling ICT for Increasing Productivity in Mechatronics Manufacturing

Visit Website

Project Overview

The ScaleIT project aims to make information and communication technologies (ICT) scalable and modular for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in mechatronics manufacturing. It focuses on enabling flexible, data-driven production environments. () By developing lightweight, interoperable ICT components, ScaleIT supports Industry 4.0 adoption in SMEs that cannot afford large-scale, custom automation systems.

Our Goal

Develop a modular ICT platform for SMEs to integrate sensors, analytics, and production control. Provide plug-and-play scalability for mechatronics manufacturing. Demonstrate practical productivity gains through pilot implementations.

Highlights

Focused on scalable ICT rather than heavy enterprise systems. Provides reference architectures and open frameworks for SME-friendly digitalization. Collaboration between TECO, industry partners, and research institutes across Germany. Part of Germany’s “Smart Data” initiative.

Impact

Lowers barriers for SMEs to implement Industry 4.0 technologies. Increases production flexibility, data transparency, and operational efficiency. Demonstrates how modular, open ICT can scale across diverse manufacturing setups. Strengthens digital competitiveness in Germany’s industrial sector.
