Between 2010 and 2013 I was working in the research project Polytos, where the objective was to develop the basis of future organic printed smart labels. In this project, partners from industry and academia were working together to realize the vision of item-level-tagging and IoT. My work in this project was to provide highly scalable wireless communications, that enable in addition a minimalistic circuit design of printable polymer tags to meet finally the low hardware performance of polymer electronics. One major outcome of my research was the development of the Collective Communications (CC) framework. During my time as a PhD student at KIT, I extended the CC framework apart for organic printed smart labels to low-resource WSN built for smart environments and IoT using superimposed radio transmission.
